What is BPM

IBM Business Process Manager is a full-featured, consumable business process management (BPM) platform. It includes tooling and run time for process design and execution, along with capabilities for monitoring and optimizing work that is executed within the platform. It is specifically designed to enable process owners and business users to engage directly in the improvement of their business processes.

IBM BPM is available in on-premises and cloud configurations. It is designed to support mobile devices, features case management capabilities across its product editions and operates with a single process server or in a federated topology.

As a Development Lead in a global bank, Susan’s role is to manage BPM process. Her team members often have different experience and skill level. There always comes anti-parttens, so she needs to perform code review.

As-Is Journey

“I want to ensure the quality of our BPM process and what I can do to refine it. Currently I have to spend a lot of time and efforts to check manually.”

What I learned

During this 5-month internship, I experienced working as an only designer at a product team but sitting with all the other designers in the studio, which is really challenging. It's like, everyone is my mentor. IBM Design studios have a really amazing culture. We work hard together and play hard together. Working with architects, front-end developers and business analysts helps me bridge the gap between UX Design, Business, and Technology.

Besides this BPM Checkstyle project, I designed office leisure space for my product team (shown in the following carousel); participated in some design workshops which faciliate IBM clients; co-hold a designers' artwork charity bazaar for autistic children.
